The value of an international community — and how to manage it

A Game Access '24 talk on what actually changes when your community goes global — habits, preferences, and the neighbours who somehow play nothing like each other.

Game Access in Brno is quietly one of my favourite gaming events in all of Europe — the kind of conference where the honest conversations still happen in the hallway.

Your game has a global community. Congratulations — but what does that actually mean? Preferences, habits, and culture shift across the world, and even neighbouring countries can play nothing alike. In this talk I walked through dos and don'ts when addressing players around the world, and shared projects that can help you reach a broader audience while keeping the communities you already have happy.

I pulled from practical experience across The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 to show how a studio can benefit from taking this seriously — and, if you've never thought about it before, why it's worth starting now.
